Jeff Holyoke

Jeff Holyoke

Jeffrey Holyoke is the Vice President, Quality at Neurotech joining in September of 2020. Prior to that, he served in positions of increasing responsibility and was the Global Quality Senior Director/Site Head for Takeda Pharmaceuticals Vaccines Business Unit overseeing Quality Operations for the Cambridge and Singapore sites.  While at Takeda, Jeff also served as the U.S. Regional Head for the Global Quality Audit Team, as well site remediation, regulatory pre-approval authorization inspection readiness and inspection support capacity as well as the a technical quality auditor specializing in aseptic processes.
 
Over the course of his 30 year career, Jeff has served in all areas of Quality, CMC and Manufacturing for Biotech companies such as Biogen, Sunovion (formerly Sepracor, a subsidiary of Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma), and in application chemist/methods development for companies such as Associates of Cape Cod (Manufacturer of the LAL bacterial Endotoxin kit) and Waters Corporation as an Bio-application/LC/MS chemist. Additionally, Jeff has implemented GMP testing facilities for companies such as Springborn Smithers.
 
Jeff is a Certified Quality Auditor both in the U.S. (ASQ CQA) and internationally (IRCA). Jeffs background is in both in Microbiology and Human (analytical) Biochemistry. Jeff served as a medic in the United States Air Force while attending Black Hills State University and was honorably discharged in 1987. Jeff received his B.S. from University of New Hampshire in 1991.

Konrad Kauper, MSc

Konrad Kauper, MSc

Konrad Kauper has led the core device development programs for Neurotech’s Encapsulated Cell Technology (ECT) for the past 15 years. During this period Neurotech has successfully completed several Phase I, Phase II clinical trials and recently completed enrollment of two-Phase III US and multinational clinical trials investigating ECT as a treatment for eye disease including wet macular degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa, dry macular degeneration and macular telangiectasia. Konrad has over 23 years of experience in biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies having held research and development positions at WR Grace Biomedical, CytoTherapeutics, and Genetics Institute, contributing multiple patents, peer-reviewed scientific articles and oral presentations related to the fields of drug delivery and cell-based therapeutics. Konrad received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Chemical Engineering from Northeastern University. 

John Pollack, MD

John Pollack, MD

Dr. Pollack serves as Chief Medical Officer at Neurotech. He is a partner with Illinois Retina Associates and assistant professor of ophthalmology at Rush University Medical Center, in Chicago. He is past president of the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS), and its Foundation, and serves on the Board of Directors of the ASRS and of the Illinois Society for the Prevention of Blindness. Dr. Pollack has authored more than 60 scientific papers and book chapters, served as director or invited faculty at over 120 scientific meetings, and delivered over 200 scientific presentations across the globe. Dr. Pollack’s research interests have led to his involvement in numerous major national clinical trials for which has served in roles of Study Chairman, Principle Investigator, and Co-Investigator. Dr. Pollack was co-founding Editor of the annual ASRS Preferences and Trends (PAT) Survey. Founded in 1999, it remains the largest international survey of medical and surgical trends in retina and is referenced widely in scientific presentations and publications. Dr. Pollack is co-founder and co-Director of The Winning Pitch Challenge, an ophthalmology version of Shark Tank that assists ophthalmologists with the advancement of novel ideas through the early stages of the innovative process. He has co-founded three physician-focused companies, including Vestrum Health, Covalent Medical (Focus Vision Supplements), and Clarus Acuity Group. He is an advisor to numerous biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies and serves on the Board of Directors of Notal Vision, Inc. Dr. Pollack has received many honors and awards including the ASRS Senior Honor Award and the Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He has been identified by Ocular Surgery News as one of the “OSN Retina 150 Innovators in Medical and Surgical Retina” and was a charter inductee into the Retina Hall of Fame in 2017. Dr. Pollack received his BA from Washington University in St. Louis and his MD from Georgetown University. He returned to Washington University for his residency in ophthalmology, after which he completed his retina fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin, in Milwaukee.

Richard Small, CPA

Richard Small, CPA

Mr. Small has served as Neurotech’s Chief Executive Officer since December, 2017. He was previously Neurotech’s Chief Operating Officer from March 2016 to December 2017 and the Company’s Chief Financial Officer from July 2007 to March, 2016. He has in excess of 30 years of both private and public life sciences experience and more than 40 years of overall financial and operational management. He also currently serves as a Trustee, Executive Committee Member and Chairman of the Finance and Business Affairs Committee for the New England College of Optometry. Previously Mr. Small served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Point Therapeutics, a publicly traded biotechnology company focused in developing treatments for various cancers. At Point he was a founding member of the Company and involved in taking the company public and successfully completed several private and public equity offerings. Prior to Point he served as Vice President, Chief Financial Officer at Immulogic Pharmaceutical, Inc., a publicly traded biotechnology company developing treatments for immunological-based disorders. At Immulogic he was involved in completing multiple licensing deals and several public equity offerings. His early career was spent in senior management financial and treasury positions at Dennison Manufacturing Company and he began his career at the public accounting firm of Coopers and Lybrand, LLC. Mr. Small is a CPA and has a BS in Business Administration from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts.
